Nitrile rubber (NBR) is a copolymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile monomers, which has the following basic characteristics:

Oil resistance and solvent resistance: Nitrile rubber has extremely high stability to non-polar and weakly polar oils, and its oil resistance is second only to polysulfide rubber and fluororubber. With the increase of acrylonitrile content, the oil resistance is enhanced, but the cold resistance correspondingly decreases by 12.

2. Heat resistance: Nitrile rubber has better heat resistance than natural rubber, styrene butadiene rubber, and chloroprene rubber, and can be used for a long time at 120 ℃, but its cold resistance is poor.

3. Physical and mechanical properties: Nitrile rubber has high wear resistance and adhesive strength, but its elasticity is relatively low. Adding reinforcing agents can significantly improve its tensile strength, but it will reduce its elasticity by 13.

4‌. Airtightness and breathability: Nitrile rubber has good airtightness, second only to butyl rubber, but poor breathability.

5. Processing performance: Nitrile rubber has poor compatibility with polymers with weak polarity, but has good compatibility with polymers with strong polarity such as polyvinyl chloride and modified phenolic resin. Often shared with other non-polar rubbers to improve processability.

6. Electrical insulation performance and ozone resistance: Nitrile rubber has poor electrical insulation performance and belongs to semiconductor rubber, which is not suitable as an electrical insulation material. Meanwhile, its ozone resistance performance is also poor.
